It Takes a Village

We have had an exciting past week. We just returned from a road trip to the Outer Banks. Yes, 2 days in the car (2 days each way so that makes 4 total)with baby Nate. I have some great pictures that will be coming, but before I continue I want to take a quick blog post to thank some special friends and family. Nothing will make you realize how much important it is to have the support of friends and family like having a baby. The day I left Rob was "fixing" the garage and it came down, the glass broke and gashed his hand. Our friends came over and Daniel drove Rob to the Urgent care to get stiched up and Julie stayed with me and Nate so that I could finish packing. A few days before that another friend sat with my screaming baby in the lobby while I went into a doctors appointment. Another friend opened her home to have a get together so that I could introduce Nate to my Raleigh girls. Last night my dad woke up at 4 am to help me change Nate's diaper since I was in a hotel room without Rob to help me. My mother continues to be the force that is helping me keep it together while I learn what motherhood is all about. And friends from our church graciously showed up with homecooked meals several times a week during our first few weeks with baby Nate at home. I feel so blessed that we have friends and family to help us and step in to love our baby and help us when we need extra hands. We also feel really lucky to have found a church like we have where the members are reaching out to help us as we enter into parenthood. Raising a child really does take a village so to all those who in our "village", thank you for the community effort. We feel loved and supported and Nate is lucky to have so many people who love him. More pictures coming soon...
